Fly a Kite

Flying a kite on the beach is a wonderful Winter beach activity that everyone is sure to enjoy! Not only will you delight in the beautiful kite flying but you'll also get to enjoy the serenity of the beach. There are several great local beach shops where you can purchase your kite.

Dig for Buried Treasure

Whether you use a metal detector or just walk along the beach seeing what you can find, hunting for treasure on the beach is super fun! Even if you don't find Blackbeard's chest, you'll at least probably find a few shark teeth and unique shells. Just make sure you cover up any holes you dig.

Have a Hot Chocolate and Smore's Bar

Who doesn't love a steamy cup of delicious hot chocolate and ooey, gooey smores? At your vacation rental, treat your family to an interactive dessert night! Your kids will love loading their hot chocolate marshmallows, whipped cream, and sprinkles and making their own smores just the way they like them. Get creative with the topping options!

Try a Few New Games

If your family enjoys playing games together, a beach vacation is the perfect time to try a few new ones! Before your vacation, take your family to the store and let each member pick out a new game and bring them with you to your vacation rental! Enjoy the Local Attractions

While the weather outside may not be ideal for chilling on the beach all day, there's plenty of fun things to do inside around Topsail Island! Work as a team to crack the code and escape from Topsail Island Escape Room, test out your axe throwing skills at Paradise Axe (they also have an arcade!), learn about our local history at the Missiles and More Museum (reopens Jan 7th, 2023), or check out the local sea turtles at The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (call or visit website to confirm dates before going).

Stargaze on the Beach

Winter is an amazing time to view the stars, constellations, and certain astronomical events! Bundle up and head out on the beach at night (or on the deck of your vacation rental) for a magical, sparkling show. Not sure what you're looking at? There are tons of websites and resources that will tell you exactly where to look for certain constellations, as well as if anything special will be happening in the sky that night!
